Pro-life Momentum Growing Ahead of the Dobbs Decision
Washington, D.C. – A new Wall Street Journal poll made public today finds that 48% of Americans support a 15-week abortion limit, compared to 43% who do not. Polling consistently shows a strong majority of Americans reject abortion extremism.
Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) President Marjorie Dannenfelser welcomed the news in a statement:
“Yet another poll shows life is winning in America ahead of a decision in the Dobbs case. Science informs us that by 15 weeks, unborn children have beating hearts pumping 26 quarts of blood a day, fully formed organs, fingers and toes, and more. They already prefer sucking their right or left thumb, and they feel pain. In contrast to the United States which allows abortion on demand up to birth, 47 out of 50 European nations limit elective abortion prior to 15 weeks. The more Americans learn about the humanity of the developing baby, the horror of our extreme abortion policies, and the life-affirming alternatives provided by states like Texas and thousands of pro-life pregnancy centers nationwide, the more momentum grows to modernize our laws. Our work continues to educate the public about the millions of lives at stake in this case, and we hope that soon the people and their elected representatives in every state will have their right to protect the unborn and their mothers restored.”
In Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a case involving a Mississippi law that limits abortion after 15 weeks, the Supreme Court will address whether all pre-viability abortion limits are unconstitutional. A decision is expected in the spring or summer of 2022.
SBA List is a network of 900,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
