McCaskill Sides with Abortion Giant Planned Parenthood
Dannenfelser: “Missourians deserve a senator who votes pro-life, not Claire McCaskill.”
Washington, D.C. – This afternoon Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) voted against an amendment offered by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) to the Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations bill that would stop taxpayer funding from going to abortion providers like Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion business. In response the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) released the following statement:
“Senator McCaskill proved again today that she is no moderate when it comes to abortion, voting to send taxpayer dollars to abortion giant Planned Parenthood,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of Susan B. Anthony List. “Earlier this year, Senator McCaskill voted in favor of late-term abortions on babies capable of feeling pain at five months of development and beyond. She is an abortion extremist and her record is dramatically out of step with her constituents.
“This is exactly why the SBA List field team has spent months on the ground in Missouri where we will be active through Election Day, talking to pro-life voters who do not consistently vote in midterm elections, as well as persuadable pro-life Democrats and Independents. Missourians deserve a senator who votes pro-life, not Claire McCaskill.”
Polling commissioned by SBA List shows that a majority of Missouri voters oppose giving tax dollars to Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion business:
- 54% of voters oppose taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood (49% strongly oppose)
- 57% would be less likely to vote for Senator McCaskill if she voted to give money to Planned Parenthood instead of community health centers that provide comprehensive women’s healthcare (46% “much less likely”)
SBA List’s field team of more than 500 pro-life canvassers has visited more than 170,000 Missouri voters’ homes to educate them on Sen. McCaskill’s record and the importance of voting pro-life. The ground activity is part of an historic effort to visit more than two million homes across the battleground states of Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, Florida, West Virginia, North Dakota, and Montana ahead of Election Day 2018.
Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, visiting more than 1.1 million homes in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. SBA List is a network of more than 630,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
