SBA LIST PRO-LIFE FIELD TEAM
ABOUT OUR FIELD TEAM
Over the last three election cycles, the SBA List and Women Speak Out PAC field team has visited more than 4.6 million voters with more than four thousand canvassers. Our state-of-the-art ground game played a critical role in electing President Trump to the White House and our current pro-life majority in the U.S. Senate. In 2020 alone, we will visit more than 4 million voters across critical presidential and senate battlegrounds including Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wisconsin. Voter contact mail, phones, and paid media will reinforce the field effort as part of SBA List’s overall $52 million 2020 cycle budget.
The SBA List ground team has already visited more than 1,800,000 homes across battleground states this election cycle and is currently visiting voters in Arizona, Florida, and North Carolina. The team will expand in phases to Michigan, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin, and we are watching Iowa and Georgia. We will make four million visits to voters overall before Election Day.
Coronavirus Update: We take seriously the health of our canvassing team and the voters we seek to reach. In March, our field team pivoted from door-to-door canvassing to live calls to voters in our targeted battleground states. In June, the team returned to the field, observing masking and social distancing and taking other precautions as outlined by the CDC.

STORIES FROM THE FIELD

I spoke with a man who told me he was a Democrat for 30 years, because he is Irish and he joined the party when moved here, but after these past 5-10 years he has become sick of how the Democratic party is sliding into extremism, and is considering switching parties.

Marsha met Halie and Elisha. Baby Elisha is the 4th girl in their household born at 6 months! All four girls are healthy and love life.

While we were walking in a neighborhood, a car with an older couple pulled up and the woman hollered “THANK YOU!” At first we were confused, and then we realized she was thanking us for being pro-life voters! She asked us to tell her everything – who we were, why we were out, what we were doing. They were so excited about SBA List, and even more impressed that two young men were out on a Friday early evening canvassing for the unborn. She and her husband happily took photos and gave each boy a hug and hearty handshake, with the instruction to “go out and change the world!”

One Hispanic pro-life gentleman that I spoke to said, “I am totally fed up with the Democratic Party. They are just using us for our votes. I will become a U.S. Citizen next month, and I will be voting Republican! In fact my whole family will be voting Republican.” He was very passionate as he spoke.

I am working in Tampa neighborhoods in a deeply blue area and keep meeting Trump supporters at the doors. They are middle class working families with no Trump flags or shirts-just quietly going about their business. I talked to one couple who fled Columbia after living under socialism. They are pro-life and are proud of the president’s strong stand for life. These are the kinds of Americans I talk to every time I am in the field.

Noah (pictured on the right) spoke with a man who turned out to be very a nice, avid pro-life Christian. He believes “the baby is a human being with rights from the moment of conception.”

Emily spoke with a woman who said she used to be pro-abortion but as the laws started becoming more and more extreme, she became pro-life. Now she hopes to see more pro-life leaders in the U.S. She will be voting John James and Donald Trump in November.

Meghan is calling voters and urging them to vote pro-life. She spoke to an elderly woman from Detroit. She was very passionate about life issues, and after she gladly took the survey they ended up just chatting for a while. She told Meghan about how she always waves to people who pass her street, even if she doesn’t know them. During this time of great disconnectedness, the kindness of strangers is endlessly important and valued.

We visited an enthusiastically pro-life household and talked to a man and some of his children. He and his wife have nine children: she wasn’t home because she is a midwife and was delivering a baby a few houses down at the time. The whole family is very pro-life because of the mom’s dedication to women and their babies. In fact, the kids even made a pro-life video several years ago.

Emily met a woman who shared her struggles: she had only been able to have one child, though she hoped for more. She was so excited when her first grandbaby was born, but they were concerned about her for the first few months after her birth, because she was a preemie and weighed 2lbs at birth. She is healthy now! The woman is so grateful for her child & grandchildren & hopes no one takes life for granted.

Karley’s sisters Brooke and Faith make a great canvassing team! They are visiting Montana voters, urging them to vote to protect life, and have met several voters who were impressed to see such young and passionate advocates for life.

Areya was talking with a pro-life man who said that he was definitely against abortion, wanted more pro-life judges, and was definitely voting for Trump. He mentioned that he hadn’t decided between Governor Bullock or Senator Daines for Senate. She explained how pro-life Senator Daines is and how Governor Bullock has shot down every pro-life bill during his tenure as governor. He was surprised and said that in that case he would be voting for Senator Daines.

Marvelous canvassed someone who told her, ‘I’m voting just because you came to my house!’

Josette and Arlene met one gentleman that was undecided and did not know that Trump is the only candidate that is pro-life. After speaking with them, he said the he would do more research, and that if Trump is the only one who is pro-life he will vote for him.

Chris met Steve, a real estate agent who had been putting out real estate flyers all day for his business. He kept seeing the doorhangers Chris was sharing and wanted to thank him. He and his wife volunteer at a pregnancy center in Clayton called iChoose.

Zander met a pro-life and pro-Trump man who told him that he was almost aborted. His mother was raped at 14, and despite being told that she should abort the child, she decided that she would have and raise him.

Our student team visited voters in Pennsylvania during our LIFE Wins! tour. A story from Kate: “I spoke with Donna whose grandson was almost aborted, but thankfully his mother chose life. Donna will never vote for someone who supports abortion.

Gretchen and her daughter talked with a man who had fostered 26 kids and said he wished he could tell every woman who chose to abort to give the baby to him! He told them there is only one presidential ticket — Trump/Pence — that takes steps to protecting life and freedom for all.

One young man said he was pro-choice until he had his daughter. He looked into her eyes and knew that she and babies like her needed to be protected. He thanked Maggie for the work her team is doing to protect the unborn.

Corrie: When I raise the life issue, many people realize that they have never considered any of the baby’s rights before, and once they do, their opinions start to change. People recognize the importance of life as the fundamental right.

A couple came to the door and told Maggie and Adriana they were pro-life, but they were reluctant to vote for Trump. Maggie and Adriana asked them whether the right to life or how the president shared his opinions was more important to them. They had a discussion about it, and by the end they said they had changed their minds: they would vote for President Trump.
