Biography

Marsha Blackburn served as a Tennessee State Senator. During her time in the state legislature, she worked hard for government reform initiatives.

Since she has been elected to the House of Representatives in 2002, she has been a member of the House Pro-Life Caucus. She serves as Vice-Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and is chair of the Committee’s Select Investigative Panel on Planned Parenthood. She has been a consistent defender of life and led the debate on the House floor in support of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

In 2007 she received the Conservative Leadership Award from the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute. In 2014, Blackburn received the Distinguished Leader Award from the Susan B. Anthony List. She spoke with hope for the future of protecting babies from late-term abortion at the SBA List 2014 Campaign for Life Gala saying, “I will continue to lead this important effort to ensure the unborn are provided the same protections that all human life deserves.”
