Maria Elvira Salazar


Maria Salazar (FL-27) is a Cuban-American journalist and TV broadcaster for CNN, Telemundo, and Univision, for which she has received numerous awards and distinctions. As a journalist, Maria reported on the Salvadoran Civil War in which she witnessed the story unfold on the front lines. Through her career, she became a leading voice against socialism, and once interviewed Fidel Castro. She lives in Miami with her husband and two daughters.

As a public figure with a talent for public speaking, Maria has resolved to use her voice to speak up for the unborn and their families in Congress. She understands that life is a core issue to Hispanic-American voters and is dedicated to representing the pro-life values of the constituents in her district. Her Cuban heritage has instilled in her a deep respect for life.
