Marco Rubio: Addressing the Disastrous Consequences of China’s One-Child Policy

TMarco Rubio at SBA List Galaoday is the 34th anniversary of China's coercive one-child policy. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) wrote an op-ed in decrying this terrible human rights abuse that leads to millions of abortions, mostly of baby girls. Rubio is one of 11 potential presidential candidates who supports limiting abortion at 5 months of pregnancy, when a baby can feel the excruciating pain of abortion.

Addressing the Disastrous Consequences of China’s One-Child Policy

Marco Rubio | Sep 25, 2014

...For over three decades, China’s One-Child Policy has condemned approximately 37 million Chinese girls – who the policy helped deem unwanted or “surplus” – to abortion, infanticide, abandonment and human trafficking. In recent years, the Chinese government has relaxed this disastrous policy and ironically, China now faces demographic decline in the coming decades, in part due to the One-Child Policy. However, innocent Chinese parents are still forced to endure abortions and sterilizations in the parts of the country that are still subject to it.

There have also been additional long-term consequences of China’s One-Child Policy that we see today, including one that I am actively trying to address through legislation I’ve introduced called the Girls Count Act...

Pro-life Leaders and Congressmen Call on Senate to Pass HR7

Two days ago a Government Accountability Office report revealed that over 1,000 taxpayer-subsidized ObamaCare plans across the country cover abortions… for any reason, at any stage of pregnancy. ObamaCare has caused an estimated 111,500 more abortions to be paid for by taxpayers.

Today SBA List joined pro-life congressmen and leaders of other pro-life organizations for a press conference at the Capitol. We called on the U.S. Senate to immediately pass H.R. 7, the No Taxpayer Funding of Abortion Act sponsored by Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ).

This life-saving legislation passed the pro-life House of Representatives almost a year ago… but Obama’s pro-abortion Senate, led by Majority Leader Harry Reid, has blocked it ever since.

Pro-life women and members of Congress gave a clear message at the press conference: the No Taxpayer Funding of Abortion Act must be passed immediately to protect the unborn and the consciences of millions of pro-life Americans. Taxpayer funding of abortion is deeply unpopular with Americans, both pro-life and pro-choice, and Senators opposing this bill are betraying their constituents.

Potential Presidential Contenders Show Support For Twenty Week Abortion Ban

The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act is one of the most important pieces of pro-life legislation since Roe v. Wade. Susan B. Anthony List is strongly encouraging potential Republican presidential candidates to publicly support the bill. Today the Brody File had the exclusive.

Brody File Exclusive: Exclusive: Potential GOP Presidential Contenders Show Support For Twenty Week Abortion Ban

Some potential GOP presidential candidates are showing their support for a piece of controversial abortion legislation. The Brody File has obtained letters from many of them backing a bill that would ban abortions in America after twenty weeks.

Pro-lifers say the bill is one of the most important to come along in quite some time. It’s a federal attempt to ban all abortions after twenty weeks, the halfway point of pregnancy. It’s commonly referred to as the fetal pain bill, because of the prevailing medical opinion that an unborn baby can feel pain by then. Senator Lindsey Graham is the main sponsor of the bill. “If you’re telling parents to sing to the baby because they understand your voice, should we really be aborting a child at the stage of the pregnancy?” Graham tells The Brody File. “I don’t want anybody carrying the republican banner that doesn’t get this. If you don’t get this, then you’re the extremist.”

That’s why Graham, along with pro-life groups like the Susan B Anthony List (SBA-List) and National Right to Life are pressuring possible republican presidential contenders to get behind the bill, even though many democrats and pundits will consider it toxic. And the response so far?  “Great response,” Graham says. “All the major candidates, I think will be with us. I couldn’t be more pleased.”
