Biography
Virginia Foxx worked in academia and was President of Maryland Community College. She served in the North Carolina Senate for 10 years before being elected to Congress in 2004.
She is chair of the House Education and the Workforce Subcommittee on Higher Education, serves as the Vice Chair of the House Rules Committee, secretary of the House Republican Conference, and a member of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus. Congresswoman Foxx introduced the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act and the Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance Act. She is a co-sponsor of the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, and the Support and Value Expectant (SAVE) Moms and Babies Act. She also offered a unanimous consent request for consideration of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
Virginia Foxx has received the Chamber of Commerce’s Spirit of Enterprise Award, the Family Research Council’s True Blue Award and the Alan Keith-Lucas Friend of Children Award, the highest honor granted by the North Carolina Child Care Association. She was awarded the Marilyn Musgrave Defender of Life Award in 2011 for her courageous leadership in defense of the unborn.
