Clinton Ought to Support a Ban on Lethal Discrimination happening in the U.S.

Washington, D.C.  – Susan B. Anthony List is calling on Hillary Clinton to support the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act, legislation to ban sex-selective abortions. The House Judiciary subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice will hold a hearing on the legislation this afternoon.

During a recent interview on The View, Clinton told women: “Absolutely…of course you can be a feminist and be pro-life.”

Clinton previously acknowledged to The New York Times that sex-selection exists “both India and China, because the infanticide rate of girl babies is still overwhelmingly high, and unfortunately with technology, parents are able to use sonograms to determine the sex of a baby, and to abort girl children simply because they’d rather have a boy.”

Sex-selection is a global problem, including in the U.S., according to the latest available international data compiled by the Charlotte Lozier Institute in a new paper entitled Sex-Selection Abortion: The Real War on Women

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony List asked: “Does Hillary Clinton’s feminism expand to baby girls in the womb? Clinton should immediately endorse the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act and pledge to sign it into law if elected president.  America’s abortion laws are among the most permissive on the planet. If Clinton wants us to be a moral authority for building up women’s rights worldwide, she ought to oppose this practice and work to eradicate it here and everywhere.”

Reggie Littlejohn, Founder and President of Women’s Rights Without Frontiers, an international coalition to expose gendercide, sex-selection abortion, and forced abortion added: “Women face all kinds of intense pressure to abort or abandon their baby girls against their wills – from divorce to domestic violence and even death.  Cultural son preference exists within the United States as well.  Most of the babies selected for abortion due to their gender are girls.  For every woman who would selectively abort a girl by her free choice, there are countless more women who are being forced to abort their daughters against their wills.  It is a woman’s right to give birth to her daughter.”

The Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $16.71 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. The SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women.  The SBA List is a network of more than 465,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
