Human Cloning Prohibition Act (S.1036; H.R.2564)

Bill Summary

This bill would ban all human cloning; plain and simple.

It is not to be confused with S.812 or H.R.2560. These bills respectively introduced by Senators Orrin Hatch (R-UT) and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) in the Senate and Diana DeGette (D-CO) in the House claim to ban human cloning but are extremely deceptive. They actually support the creation of a cloned human embryo and demand the destruction of this nascent human life before it gestates to a certain number of days. It only bans the implantation of the cloned human embryo into a woman’s uterus. DeGette’s bill failed to pass the House in June 2007. The Senate bill is in Committee.

Bill Status
