Saving Babies in South Dakota
Saving Babies in South Dakota
The 8th U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals in South Dakota overturned a previous decision in a 7-4 ruling requiring doctors tell women seeking abortions “that the abortion will terminate the life of a whole, separate, unique, living human being.” Women also must be told a possible side effect of abortion includes psychological harm, even thoughts of suicide.
The main opponent of the law was, not surprisingly, Planned Parenthood. The court ruled that Planned Parenthood failed to show this information was misleading, untruthful or irrelevant to the woman’s decision. The court also said the information was biological in nature, not ideological.
What a victory for Life! It’s amazing to see this simple logic spelled out in black and white. We know this to be true: that an embryo or fetus or unborn baby is a unique individual. That’s not opinion; it’s fact. Hopefully this will not only save the lives of children who would otherwise be lost to the horrors of abortion, but be a victory for women too. |
