There have been over 47 million abortions since Roe v. Wade legalized abortion on-demand in our nation over three decades ago. This landmark decision made abortion legal for any reason and at almost any time during a woman's pregnancy.
Today almost half of all women having abortions will do so more than once in their lifetime. Not surprisingly, Planned Parenthood provides 34 times more abortions than adoption referrals.
The statistics are staggering. But the future is promising.
Every year Americans are becoming more pro-life! Even as radical pro-abortion activists insist that Americans accept abortion on-demand, polls consistently show that Americans wholeheartedly reject that notion by calling for stricter limits on abortions.
An April 2006 poll showed that only 29% of women favor legalized abortion with no restrictions! The overwhelming majority of respondents favored restrictions or outright bans on abortion.
Polls consistently show that 70-80% of Americans support commonsense restrictions like requiring a minor to obtain parental consent before having an abortion. That is why it comes as no surprise that an April 2006 Harris poll showed well over half of all Americans believe abortion should not be permitted at all, or permitted only under stricter limits than are currently in place.
