SBA List Gala Featuring Rep. Paul Ryan to Honor Young Pro-Life Women Leaders

Washington, D.C – The Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) today announced the four honorees who will receive the Susan B. Anthony Young Leader Award at the group’s annual Campaign for Life Gala on April 11 in Washington, D.C. The event will also feature Rep. Paul Ryan as the keynote speaker and Wisconsin Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, who will be honored with the Distinguished Leader Award. More information is available at www.sbaprolife.org/gala.ac

“These young women are leaders when it comes to protecting life at all stages. Like Lt. Governor Kleefisch and Congressman Ryan, they do not back down from a fight.” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List.  “Each one of these women has a unique set of talents and is using them to strengthen and grow the pro-life movement. We are grateful for these trailblazers who embody the legacy of our namesake, Susan B. Anthony.”

Four young pro-life women leaders will receive the Susan B. Anthony Young Leader Award:

Jessie Liz Clement – Jessie is a 14-year-old singer-songwriter who has written a pro-life song titled, “HEY WORLD, an anthem for the unborn.” She has performed at various pro-life and political events including crisis pregnancy centers, fundraisers, rallies, the Pro-Life Women’s Day on the Hill, the Tennessee Association of County Election Officials, and the Tennessee Federation of Republican Women’s Fall Convention in 2011.

Grace Daigler – In eighth grade, Grace rallied her class to organize a school-wide walkathon for All Babies Cherished. She is now a junior Social Work Major and Human Life Minor at Franciscan University of Stuebenville where she has serves as Vice President of Franciscan Students for Life, and is the founder and editor a new pro-life campus magazine. Grace is a Students for Life of America Wilberforce Fellow and has counseled women considering abortion outside clinics in Pittsburgh, one of which has since closed.

Emily Lynch – Since 2011 Emily has served as a legislative assistant to Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), assisting her as co-chair of the Senate Values Action Team, which has worked to promote pro-life policies and religious freedom in the U.S. Senate. From 2007-2011 Emily served as legislative assistant to Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), a pro-life champion. She has also volunteered for Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS) during his presidential primary campaign in Iowa, and for Catholics for McCain in 2008.

Katie Wilcox – Katie is a lawyer at a Michigan firm and graduated from Ave Maria School of Law where she served as Vice President of the Lex Vitae (“Law of Life”) Society. Her law review note, “Why the Equal Protection Clause Cannot ‘Fix’ Abortion Law,” was published in the Human Life Review and the Ave Maria Law Review. In high school, Katie volunteered for Right to Life of Michigan and started a Students for Life club. She went on to serve as President of Michigan State University Students for Life, where she planned the first statewide pro-life rally on MSU campus, and eventually founded Students for Life of Michigan.
