Susan B. Anthony List President to Discuss Pro-life Impact on Legislation, 2016 Presidential Race

Washington, D.C. – A week ahead of the 42nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade and the annual March for Life, Marjorie Dannenfelser – president of the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC Women Speak Out – will discuss the movement’s electoral victories and legislative agenda at a National Press Club Newsmakers news conference, scheduled for Thursday, January 15 at 10 a.m.

Both groups are dedicated to electing candidates and promoting government policies that will curtail and ultimately end abortion. Since its founding, the SBA List has helped elect more than 100 pro-life candidates to the U.S. House of Representatives, 19 to the U.S. Senate, and 16 to other statewide offices across the country.

During the 2014 election cycle, the Susan B. Anthony List and its partners spent more than $15 million to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and turn out voters through an unprecedented ground campaign. More than 700 pro-life activists knocked on more than 520,000 doors, making more than a million voter contacts in races critical to building a Senate majority.

At the NPC Newsmakers news conference, Dannenfelser will discuss:

  • Pro-life expectations for the 2016 presidential race
  • Silence on abortion from EMILY’s List candidates and the general shrinking back on abortion from the “feminist left”
  • Translating pro-life political wins in to legislative victories, starting with advancement of the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, aimed at stopping abortion after 5 months
  • Authentic pro-life, pro-woman feminism.

The Newsmakers news conference is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 at 10 a.m. in the National Press Club’s Bloomberg Room, on the 13th floor of the National Press Building at 529 14th St., NW, Washington, D.C.

**Please RSVP to [email protected] if you plan to attend.**

Like all NPC Newsmakers events, this news conference is open to credentialed journalists and NPC members, free of charge.

The Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $15.25 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. The SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women.  The SBA List is a network of more than 365,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
