SBA List Young Leader Award Winners Announced

Washington, D.C – Tonight, four young pro-life women leaders will be honored with the Susan B. Anthony Young Leader Award at the Susan B. Anthony List’s seventh annual Campaign for Life Gala. The event will take place at 6:30 PM at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, in Washington, D.C.  Former presidential candidate and FOX television host Governor Mike Huckabee (R-AR) will keynote. The event is open to press.

“Susan B. Anthony was a trailblazer for the rights of women and the unborn,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the SBA List. “Through tonight’s awards, we honor a new generation of trailblazers. Each of these young women is making a profound impact in the fight to protect unborn children and women.”

Deanna Deanna Candler — Deanna attends Louisiana State University Law School. She is the founder and President of LSU’s Law Advocates for Life. She is also a Wilberforce Fellow with Students for Life of America and a clerk for Americans United for Life. Deanna is a regular contributor to Live Action News and blogs about politics and pro-life issues.
Claire Claire Chretien — Claire is a junior at the University of Alabama where she is the President of ‘Bama Students for Life. Under her leadership, the group recently won the Students for Life of America “Group of the Year” award. Claire was recently on Fox and Friends to discuss the University of Alabama’s Free Speech Policy after the school administration removed a Bama Students for Life Pro-Life display.
Bethany Bethany Goodman— Bethany works for the March for Life Education and Defense Fund where, in the last six months, she has built from scratch one of the most innovative digital and online efforts in the pro-life movement. Previously, she labored on Capitol Hill in the pro-life fight, faithfully participating and showing leadership with the Values Action Team and Pro-Life Caucus. Bethany is also a regular volunteer and counselor at a local pregnancy center.
Aimee Aimee Murphy—Aimee graduated from Carnegie Mellon University, where she served as president of the Respect Life club.  She is the founder and operator of the non-profit, Life Matters Journal. Through the Life Matters Journal, Aimee reaches out to an audience beyond the traditional pro-life coalition. Her holistic approach has reached many who would not ordinarily relate to the “pro-life establishment.”

 

Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) will receive the SBA List’s Distinguished Leader Award and retiring Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) will receive the Marilyn Musgrave Defender of Life Award.

The Susan B. Anthony List, and its affiliated Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, are dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women.  The SBA List is a network of more than 365,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
