The Senate may soon be considering ratification of the UN Convention to Eliminate all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). For 25 years, the U.S. Senate has refused to ratify this dangerous treaty. Its provisions are enforced by an unelected UN Compliance Committee who regularly exceeds its mandates to impose on matters of national sovereignty. The CEDAW committee has critized Belarus for celebrating Mother's Day. It has pressured China to legalize prostitution. It criticized Croatia and Italy for providing conscience clause protections for doctors opposed to performing abortions. Most importantly, it has pressured over 35 countries to legalize abortion-on-demand, despite the absence of language addressing abortion in the actual treaty. The legal consequences of ratifying this pro-abortion treaty would be monumental. All pro-life legislation at the state and national levels would be threatened. Progress made over the last decade to protect the unborn and women would all be rolled back in the name of the UN and CEDAW. Contact your Senator today and urge opposition to this dangerous pro-abortion treaty!
