Internships

Intern Program Overview:

The Susan B. Anthony List could not accomplish the work that it does without the invaluable help of our student and post-graduate interns. Our interns travel from near and far to join us in our fight to save the unborn. Part-time Fall and Spring student interns come from local schools such as Georgetown University, George Washington University, American University, Catholic University of America, and Pontifical John Paul II Institute. Full-time and Summer interns have come to us from many colleges and universities all over the country such as: Princeton University, UC Berkley, Stanford, Loyola Marymount, and Purdue University.

Over the years, we have developed and expanded our intern program by including special activities and experiences that foster personal and professional growth for our interns. These activities include attending meetings and press conferences with prominent pro-life leaders and members of Congress. They are invited to various intern seminars and workshops where they can learn about government, policy, and related topics which they can bring back to their campuses or apply to their professional expertise. They have an opportunity to attend social gatherings to network and connect with other D.C. interns with whom they can share these experiences in our nation’s capitol.

During previous summers, interns have had the opportunity to meet with members of our Pro-Life Women’s Caucus, Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO), Jean Schmidt (R-OH), Cathy McMorris-Rodgers (R-WA), and Michele Bachmann (R-MN). These women shared their life stories and deep pro-life convictions with the students, encouraging them to continue their work in order to make a difference in the pro-life movement.

Intern Responsibilities:

The Susan B. Anthony List expects interns to be self-starters with good communication skills. The ability to balance multiple demands and work with shifting priorities and deadlines is a must.

The interns are responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of our organization. Duties will be divided between typical daily administrative support and larger projects such as: event planning, fundraising, legislative and political research, and online communciations.

Ideal candidates will have an interest in non-profit advocacy work and pro-life politics.

How to Apply:

Applications for Summer 2012 are now being accepted. Deadline for submitting applications is April 1, 2012. The Susan B. Anthony List is also willing to work with students to gain college credit for their internship experience.
